| Read What Others Are Saying Revealing life's splendor of light as well as its cold darkness, Jeanne Johnson weaves her vivid stories into a collection gripping the reader from beginning to end. Most of all she captures the essence of the spirit of survival – and the hope that we will all some day find love and peace within. Susana Herrera, Author of Mango Elephants in the Sun: How Life in an African Village Let Me Be in My Skin. Jeanne's stories are so sad yet touching. As I read through the first part it made me realize how much an adult needs to start looking through the eyes of a child once again. Jeanne has such a wonderfully sympathetic and empathetic way of dealing with all her subject matter. After reading the book, it left me with a feeling that obstacles can be overcome and one can learn from these experiences. This book should be read by everyone going through a crisis as it gives the reader such a courageous feeling in the end. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel providing you actually look for it. Read Exerpts from Starlings in the Park I especially related to Jeanne's short story (Ervin) as it conjured up many childhood memories growing up in Bristol, England. Andrew Stewart, Recreation/Events Coordinator, Santa Cruz, CA.
